Role of Moisturizer in Our Skin’s Natural Skincare Process
Today, our irony is that we are too busy to even take care of ourselves. Our skin for example, comes into contact with dozens of different elements throughout the day, most of which are damaging. A recent study revealed that our skin has absorbed a number of chemicals some of which weren’t even present in human skin a few decades back.
Another problem arising from our busy schedule is that we don’t even have time to shop for the right skincare products. All we do today is go to the grocery store, pick up a brand of industrial soap that looks or smells good without paying attention to the ingredients. If we take a closer look or do some research, we will find that some of those products are now being identified as potentially carcinogenic, dangerous and even toxic.
The most ironic part is yet to come, and it is not our busy schedule. Even today, we can get natural skincare products with very little research and get natural skin our parents or grandparents used to have. The keyword here is “moisturizer.”
Why we need Moisturizers?
With so many elements penetrating our skin, it is almost mandatory for us to protect the epidermis (outer layer of our skin.) Moisturizers are possibly the most important thing we need in our skin. Moisturizers add water to the skin to reinforcing the skin's own natural process and keeping it hydrated. When glycerin, a potential source of moisturizing agents, reacts with our skin, it forms the protective layer on our epidermis.
Effect of Moisturizer on Our Skin
Moisturizer affects positively on our skin. For instance:
- It keeps the skin plumped up and taught.
- Reduces wrinkles and keeps the skin subtle and youthful.
- Skin becomes translucent, and skin tone and color improve as a result.
- It acts as a barrier slowing down the evaporation of water content from the skin's cells.
- Helps prevent unwanted pollution from penetrating the skin's defenses.
It is thus clear that regular use of moisturizing agents (e.g. moisturizing natural soap) is absolutely important for our skin, especially those of us that have dry skin.
